Empower Your Community with Walking Initiatives

America Walks and the Alliance for Biking & Walking will discuss the roles their national organizations play in empowering communities to advocate for walking and walkability, and the YMCA of Greater Long Beach will provide the local perspective on developing successful walking initiatives.

Topics of discussion will include:
1) The Walking Action Network — a program created to assist local communities with developing walking strategies designed to engage partners and local advocates in the walking movement,
2) Information about coaching, trainings and other resources available from the Alliance for Biking & Walking, and
3) Advocacy strategies and resources that can be implemented at the local level.

This is an interactive discussion with call participants that promises to be an exciting exchange of ideas and strategies.

Want to help make Long Beach a better place to walk? Join Walk Long Beach, other local partners for this  community workshop.

The goal of the workshops is to catalyze and enhance community-based efforts to increase walking and walkability in Long Beach by connecting local leaders and community members with the talents and expertise of America Walks and a cadre of other national walking leaders. The Walking Action Workshop is a 4-hour program that brings community organizations and members together to create momentum towards more walking in the near future. COME JOIN THE DISCUSSION!
